Comfortable accommodation is offered in three 4-sleeper, self-catering cottages with white cotton linen and a river view from the bedroom. Each cottage has a kitchen equipped with a fridge, stove, and microwave, as well as additional extras in some of the cottages, such as a Nespresso coffee machine or air fryers. Each cottage features a relaxing living area with air-conditioning and a farm patio with private braai facilities, where guests can enjoy sundowners next to a bonfire while listening to the peaceful sounds of the bushveld.
All 3 cottages have outdoor wood-fired hot tubs to enable cool dips during the day and heated night swims. Free Wi-Fi is available and Silver Carp has a TV in the lounge area.
Guests can try their luck at some catch-and-release fishing in the Mokolo and Sterkstroom rivers or in the various farm dams. Bring along your own battery-powered bass boat or enjoy the river scenery while paddling in one of the 3 kayaks available. This is a working farm, and guests are invited to be part of the experience by cycling or walking on the farm roads. Witness the Amaryllis fields in bloom or have a laugh at the playful cattle.

This was our 2nd visit to Groendraai River Cottages and once again enjoyed it immensely. The house is extremely well equipped, think of something and it is there. Marissa is a good hostess and always makes sure you have everything you need. We always rest well here and will definitely visit Groendraai again. Where do you start, it was one of the best holiday breaks we have ever had, everything everything everything is beyond 5 star! Service, accommodation everything, you have an amazing place, you thought of everything. Thank you.
It was a peaceful and lovely stay with my husband and young son. We all enjoyed the hiking trail and the hot tub very much. The beds were comfortable, and the cottage had everything we needed to make meals and braai.

I stayed in Stargazer, stunning cottage, loved the style. The host thought of everything, from games to gazebo in case you fancy a picnic outdoors next to the dam. The only thing I did not like is that it is too close to the other cottage, I could hear the family next door talking, word by word. Other than that I enjoyed my stay.

It is not often that my expectations are exceeded, but in this case they were. From the onset, the communication and administration was excellent, which is always a good sign. The online photos are already beautiful, but they actually do not do the venue justice. In real life, the setting is breathtaking. Every little detail and more has been considered by the owners. The units are tastefully decorated, very well equipped, and very neat and clean. We were celebrating a birthday and the host went to extra special effort to assist me in arranging balloon decorations as a surprise. We had a lot of rain, and as a result, the stretch of gravel road was slightly challenging; however, we managed fine with SUVs and a normal hatchback. A vehicle with very low ground clearance might battle. The WiFi is not very reliable, but if you're looking at spending quality time with friends and family, this is not necessarily a negative in my opinion. We will definitely be back!

This place lends itself to beautiful photos. Our stay was wonderful, we really enjoyed the porch with its own braai. The place is beautiful inside. The boma on the last night was a highlight. When we needed something there was soon someone to bring it to us, the people are so hospitable. We really just rested and recharged our batteries. Lovely picnic spot where the most beautiful photos can also be taken. Oh it was just nice and relaxing, incredibly good value for money. Marissa was extremely helpful from start to finish and passed on all possible information. Thank you Groendraai, we will come again.

Absolutely amazing! Clean, homey, tranquil, modern, welcoming. This is a bookmark stay for me now. The owner really thought of everything; each unit even has an air fryer, lawn games, and there was a bag of animal toys that my little one enjoyed so much. Definite recommendation from me!

The Groendraai River Cottages are very comfortable. We were very surprised with all the little things that were thought of to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible. Everything you can think of was already in the cottage for our convenience without asking for it. Very nice sitting in the warm pool which is heated with wood. Quiet by the river and a large veranda to relax. We will definitely visit again.
There's not really much to do at Groendraai River Cottages, which was good for relaxing and getting away from the busy life outside.

At the end of the day, much more thought was put into the smaller things than expected. The attention to detail, from the facilities, decor and accessories, was far beyond my expectations and Groendraai will definitely see me again.

Groendraai River Cottages is really a place for relaxation and rest. Everything you need is in great comfort to just relax and be surrounded by Bushveld beauty and a relaxing environment. The space of Silwer Carp was amazing, and it made the stay that much more special.

Self-catering Bushveld getaway, tidy accommodation. All information is shared before arrival, and we got exactly what we expected, the cottages are well maintained, everything was in perfect working order. I can definitely recommend it and will break away to Groendraai River Cottages again for a few days in the future.

I still cannot believe I found this absolute gem. I searched long and hard for a getaway in the bush that would not break the bank. Weeks in fact. When I found Groendraai, I thought there must be a catch, but really there wasn't. From the moment I made the booking to this moment that I write this review, it's been such a blessing and privilege. Marissa is a wonderful host, very thorough in her communications, very responsive and absolutely runs her business with heart. The accommodation was fantastic. It catered for everything! It was practical, luxurious, comfortable and so relaxing. The farm is so beautiful and river in front of the unit was the cherry on top! We already want to book our next stay and can confidently say we will become regulars! Strongly recommend!

We stayed in the Silver Carp and Sunfish rooms. Silver Carp was absolutely phenomenal and catered to our needs the whole weekend, even with load shedding! Sunfish is a slightly smaller and less equipped room, but still able to provide what is needed! We really had a great time and will be back! It is a bit far for a weekend away if you're from Joburg, so a long weekend would be ideal!
Wow wow wow! Everything was perfect! From the decor, the service and stunning view. The hot tub was of course the highlight. The detail and effort that Marissa puts into every little thing, from nice filter coffee, to cuddly blankets, to cute loadshedding lights. Too many to mention. We are already planning our next trip and I recommend everyone who needs a blast cheese to do the same!

We stayed in Silvercarb. From the moment we confirmed the reservation, Marissa sent us all the information about the house and what there is to do. We knew exactly where to go and what to do to get there and book in. The house has everything you need. Little things that made the stay more enjoyable. There is a hot tub, a Nespresso coffee machine with pods and a nice gas fireplace in the living room. A very nice porch with a dining room set, as well as a large living room set. Two nice reading chairs where you can relax and watch nature. An awful lot of birds, remember your binoculars and the stargazing is awesome. It's safe and the piece of dirt road to the house can also be driven by an ordinary car. Would definitely recommend Silvercarp! We had a very nice stay.
It was my husband's 50th birthday celebration and Marissa went out of her way to help me with balloons. The surroundings are peaceful and the house is well furnished.

Groendraai and Silver Carp are stunning. It was fun exploring the working farm on our bikes and the cottage feels like a luxury lodge, had everything we needed and more. Would definitely go back again for a longer period, 2 nights was too little.

Wow! Groendraai exceeded our expectations. It's luxury accommodation on the most beautiful farm! So much attention has been paid to detail to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The complimentary bottle of wine was delicious while we watched the most beautiful sunsets in the evening. The picnic area on the farm was certainly a highlight as well as being able to row on the river. Marissa was always ready to help at any time and make sure we were as comfortable as possible. The place has been particularly carefully planned with furniture and accessories that simply make it comfortable. The heated plunge pool is also a winner. Best value for money and a nice environment.

Our weekend at Groendraai in Silvercarp was just what was needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city! The house is beautiful and tidy with a lovely patio. We were able to enjoy walking, cycling, kayaking and fishing. The communication and helpfulness of the owners was fantastic!

I haven't seen such a neat and well-maintained accommodation in a long time. Everything is of the best and no expense has been spared. It's a lovely holiday home with the boma, braai, dining table and sofas on a nicest patio with a beautiful view. The rooms and bathrooms are beautiful and I wish Marissa could come and decorate my house. It really is a lovely relaxing break and I wish we could have stayed longer.
We had a great time staying in our unit. Nice big stoep and the boma which is close to the unit. My children had fun playing. The kitchen's storage space is small, but very comfortable with all the extras, the beds are a bit too hard.

Easy directions, my wife enjoyed her birthday. The kids loved the games. I loved the airfryer and the tub️. Very friendly staff, extremely helpful. The owners are great people. They not only met my expectations but the exceeded them. When we mentioned that we needed picnic nibbles they made sure we got what we needed with no hassle. I intend coming back. Will book closer to the year ending. Might just book the whole place. The picnic spot is just to die for️️.

The location and the calmness are amazing.
The unit was luxurious and offered many extras to make the stay memorable. The owners have thought of everything from Magneto lanterns, to both indoor and outdoor games, to books and magazines and a chilled complimentary bottle of wine. The old-fashioned style " donkey " driven hot tub was such a treat. Groendraai will definitely be seeing us again.
From the moment you walk in, you see the care and love with which everything has been done: the beautiful interior decoration - attention to the smallest detail; so well equipped - from the kitchen to the games, bikes, canoes! Everything is so well cared for and maintained, right down to the facilities at the lovely picnic spot next to the dam - braai wood, splash pool, clean toilet, shower! These people really care, I relaxed from the first moment! Will definitely come back with family and friends!

Will go back to this peaceful place anytime. Everything you can think of is available in this comfortable place. House is nice and warm especially if you visit in winter. Take walking shoes with you, plenty of room to walk. Load power is not an issue and we didn't even know when the power was on or off.
Very hard to sum up in words - Groendraai is a hidden gem! The units are extremely neat and well equipped, with everything that opens and closes, and stylishly furnished. The unit offers luxuries such as air grill, gas heater and electric blanket which make the stay very comfortable.
I have no idea why Groendraai thinks they are 5-star. Upon moving onto the dirt road, our little house was on the shore. The photos made promises of a nice big porch, nice kitchen, cozy bedroom. And to our surprise, this was not what we got at all. It was more like 6 star! The nice body wash soap has elements of lemongrass that one doesn't even find in luxury hotels. Not to mention the shampoo! Marissa went out of her way to help us arrive after we got lost like real townies. My bike's tire went flat on the route and she immediately sacrificed one of their bikes. In addition, she gave us the airfryer that is only in the other cottages to use. And one of her people went to town the next day to see if they could replace the tire. One is only shy and only brings one's luxuries with one. Like your Sodastream machine. But then of course you forget the bottles. Again, I look up at the beautiful wooden wall shelf and what is there? Yep, one of the fancy things. Somewhat better than mine! Every single day for 3 days the weather was sunny. Beautiful. And on the last night, Vaalwater showed us the rain. So so beautiful. The farm's people are so friendly and my only complaint is that we didn't have enough time to explore the whole farm. People talk about sunsets, but honestly I have never experienced such picture-perfect moments. So now we have to go back for another visit. Not only to be received so openly and warmly again but to tick off the rest of our 'to do' things. Thank you Marissa, your passion shines through and through on the beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped cottages.

We were here on the weekend of 9 April 2022 and it was one of the neatest and most equipped cottages/lodges I have ever been to. They were clean and tidy and smelled good! It had a nice big gas shower and even a gas fireplace, air conditioning and a floor standing fan in each room. The fridge had a bowl of complimentary farm eggs, a few cartons of milk and a nice bottle of wine (you don't pay for it, it's free). There was also complimentary firewood under the compartment by the fireplace outside. There is also a safe for your handgun!. You only bring your clothes, fire pits and clothing. You will have a great time, the owner is also extremely friendly and will do anything to make sure you have a great time. I will go back and not think twice about it. Well done to Groendraai River Cottages.10/10.

The kayaks, the fishing, driving around the whole farm to explore was great fun. The stoep is so beautifully laid out to be able to relax and we were able to experience the most beautiful sunsets. You get so much more than you expect. The pictures don't do justice to how it looks there. Out of a book, picture perfect! Comfortably furnished and provides for more than at your own home. The breakfast basket was better than a 5 star!

Electric blankets are also put onto the beds during winter. The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, a 2-plate gas stove, a kettle for the gas stove, an air fryer, a microwave, and a toaster, as well as a stick blender and SodaStream. Each cottage has a kitchen equipped with a fridge, stove, and microwave, as well as additional extras in some of the cottages, such as a Nespresso coffee machine or air fryers. Each cottage features a relaxing living area with air-conditioning and a farm patio with private braai facilities, where guests can enjoy sundowners next to a bonfire while listening to the peaceful sounds of the bushveld.
All 3 cottages have outdoor wood-fired hot tubs to enable cool dips during the day and heated night swims. Free Wi-Fi is available and Silver Carp has a TV in the lounge area.
Guests can try their luck at some catch-and-release fishing in the Mokolo and Sterkstroom rivers or in the various farm dams. Bring along your own battery-powered bass boat or enjoy the river scenery while paddling in one of the 3 kayaks available. This is a working farm, and guests are invited to be part of the experience by cycling or walking on the farm roads. Witness the Amaryllis fields in bloom or have a laugh at the playful cattle.
